Folks. If we do put together a sponsor sheet (or recognition in the program), can we make sure WebEx is listed? They are donating free use of their software for the conference, including toll-free call-in.

Chris and everyone...I cannot make the 26th conference call b/c I have an all day teacher workshop. I will pass along my updates/questions for the group to Jess.

Sounds great EV. Do you want to put together a simple draft?

I really like the logo and the suggestion to recognize the contributing partners on a nicely printed sign. I'd be happy to spearhead this.

This is much cleaner -- very nice!

I posted the new version of the logo. Take a look and let me know. I tried to shape it to fit on a thumb drive and still be readable.

Got it. Thanks everyone. I will clean the logo up when I get into the office and post the new one. I like the idea of acknowledgments during the workshop.

Logo works for me!

Agreed. The "Sea Grant Climate Network Workshop 2009" on the thumb drive would work best. We could also make a background slide/desktop projection for use during presentations with the logos of contributors present.

In response to my request to Sea Grant directors for extra contributions, a few programs responded to me that they can't go beyond paying for travel costs of their representatives as support for the conference. I think that, coupled with Esperanza's comment below, makes it a bit awkward to have only the programs sending "extra" support noted on the memory stick.
Comment by Esperanza Stancioff on October 9, 2009 at 9:15am
I agree with what Bob is saying. Also, if we have other programs asked to contribute for specific needs (speaker travel, etc) at this point then they would not be included.

Stone Age technological and cultural innovation accelerated by climate change

Underwater springs reveal how coral reefs respond to ocean acidification

Ocean acidification due to rising carbon dioxide levels will reduce the density of coral skeletons, making coral reefs more vulnerable to disruption and erosion, according to a new study of corals growing where submarine springs naturally lower the pH of seawater. The study is the first to show that corals are not able to fully acclimate to low pH conditions in nature.
